The holidays are behind us, the temperatures are just about perfect, and the city settles into that calm-but-still-busy rhythm that makes winter here so special. Tucson Jazz Festival
January 16–24, 2026 | Multiple venues
A nine-day celebration of jazz featuring performances across Downtown Tucson at venues like the Fox Tucson Theatre, Rialto Theatre, and intimate clubs. Expect everything from straight-ahead jazz to contemporary favorites.

The Wiz
January 6–11 | Centennial Hall
A vibrant, reimagined take on the classic musical with dazzling costumes, powerful performances, and a joyful journey from Kansas to Oz.

14th Annual Tucson Fringe Performing Arts Festival

January 8–11 | Downtown Tucson + Virtual
Four days of uncensored, unjuried theater and performing arts. Expect bold, experimental, funny, moving, and unexpected performances from local and visiting artists.

Presidio Museum: Mainly Murals Walking Tour
January 3 | 10:00 AM–12:00 PM
Kick off the year with a guided walking tour exploring downtown Tucson’s vibrant murals and the stories behind them. A great way to reconnect with the city’s art and history.

Dillinger Days at Hotel Congress
January 16–17 | Hotel Congress & Downtown Tucson
Step back into the 1930s and celebrate Tucson history at the site of John Dillinger’s capture. Enjoy speakeasy-style events, whiskey tastings, live music, historical reenactments, vintage cars, and family-friendly activities.

SAVOR Southern Arizona Culinary Festival
January 24 | Tucson Botanical Gardens
Celebrate Tucson’s UNESCO City of Gastronomy status with tastings from top local chefs, brewers, winemakers, and artisans. The focus is on heritage ingredients and Southern Arizona flavors, all set in a beautiful garden setting.

Outdoor & Nature Activities

LightsUp! at Tucson Botanical Gardens
Tuesdays–Sundays through January 11 | 6:00–9:30 PM
A magical winter evening experience featuring illuminated pathways, seasonal displays, and special programming throughout the gardens.

33rd Annual Wings Over Willcox Birding & Nature Festival
January 15–18, 2026 | Willcox Community Center & Willcox Playa
One of Arizona’s most beloved birding weekends, held over Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend. Enjoy guided bird-watching field trips, free nature seminars, a Nature Expo with live demonstrations and vendors, and opportunities to see wintering sandhill cranes and other migratory birds in the scenic Sulphur Springs Valley. Just over an hour from Tucson, it’s perfect for experts and curious newcomers alike.
